Officiant O
God, make speed to save us.
People O
Lord, make haste to help us.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
Alleluia.
O gracious
light,
pure brightness of the everliving Father in heaven,
O
Jesus Christ, holy and blessed!
Now as we come to the setting
of the sun,
and our eyes behold the vesper light,
we sing your
praises, O God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
You are worthy
at all times to be praised by happy voices,
O Son of God, O Giver
of Life,
and to be glorified through all the worlds.
Ascribe to the LORD,
you gods, *
ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
Ascribe to the LORD
the glory due his Name; *
worship the LORD in the beauty of
holiness.
The voice of the
LORD is upon the waters;
the God of glory thunders; *
the LORD
is upon the mighty waters.
The voice of the
LORD is a powerful voice; *
the voice of the LORD is a voice of
splendor.
The voice of the
LORD breaks the cedar trees; *
the LORD breaks the cedars of
Lebanon;
He makes Lebanon
skip like a calf, *
and Mount Hermon like a young wild ox.
The voice of the
LORD splits the flames of fire;
the voice of the LORD shakes the
wilderness; *
the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
The voice of the
LORD makes the oak trees writhe *
and strips the forests bare.
And in the temple of
the LORD *
all are crying, “Glory!”
The LORD sits
enthroned above the flood; *
the LORD sits enthroned as King for
evermore.
The LORD shall give
strength to his people; *
the LORD shall give his people the
blessing of peace.
Sing to the LORD a
new song, *
for he has done marvelous things.
With his right hand
and his holy arm *
has he won for himself the victory.
The LORD has made
known his victory; *
his righteousness has he openly shown in the
sight of the nations.
He remembers his
mercy and faithfulness to the house of Israel, *
and all the ends
of the earth have seen the victory of our God.
Shout with joy to
the LORD, all you lands; *
lift up your voice, rejoice, and sing.
Sing to the LORD
with the harp, *
with the harp and the voice of song.
With trumpets and
the sound of the horn *
shout with joy before the King, the LORD.
Let the sea make a
noise and all that is in it, *
the lands and those who dwell
therein.
Let the rivers clap
their hands, *
and let the hills ring out with joy before the
LORD,
when he comes to judge the earth.
In righteousness
shall he judge the world *
and the peoples with equity.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
A Reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah.
For I know their works and their thoughts, and I am coming to gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come and shall see my glory, and I will set a sign among them. From them I will send survivors to the nations, to Tarshish, Put, and Lud—which draw the bow—to Tubal and Javan, to the coastlands far away that have not heard of my fame or seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the nations. They shall bring all your kindred from all the nations as an offering to the LORD, on horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and on mules, and on dromedaries, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, says the LORD, just as the Israelites bring a grain offering in a clean vessel to the house of the LORD. And I will also take some of them as priests and as Levites, says the LORD. For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, says the LORD; so shall your descendants and your name remain. From new moon to new moon, and from sabbath to sabbath, all flesh shall come to worship before me, says the LORD.
The
Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
My soul proclaims
the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior;
*
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all
generations will call me blessed: *
the Almighty has done great
things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on
those who fear him *
in every generation.
He has shown the
strength of his arm, *
he has scattered the proud in their
conceit.
He has cast down the
mighty from their thrones, *
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the
hungry with good things, *
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the
help of his servant Israel, *
for he has remembered his promise of
mercy,
The promise he made
to our fathers, *
to Abraham and his children for ever.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
A Reading from the Letter to the Romans.
Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the circumcised on behalf of the truth of God in order that he might confirm the promises given to the patriarchs, and in order that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written, “Therefore I will confess you among the Gentiles, and sing praises to your name”; and again he says, “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people”; and again, “Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and let all the peoples praise him”; and again Isaiah says, “The root of Jesse shall come, the one who rises to rule the Gentiles; in him the Gentiles shall hope.”
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
The
Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Lord, you now have
set your servant free *
to go in peace as you have promised;
For these eyes of
mine have seen the Savior, *
whom you have prepared for all the
world to see:
A Light to enlighten
the nations, *
and the glory of your people Israel.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
I
believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and
earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He
was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the
Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified,
died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third
day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at
the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the
living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy
catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of
sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
Officiant The
Lord be with you.
People And
also with you.
Officiant Let
us pray.
Our
Father in heaven,
hallowed be your Name,
your
kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in
heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as
we forgive those
who sin against us.
Save us from the
time of trial,
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom,
the power,
and the glory are yours,
now and for
ever. Amen.
V. Show
us your mercy, O Lord;
R. And
grant us your salvation.
V. Clothe
your ministers with righteousness;
R. Let
your people sing with joy.
V. Give
peace, O Lord, in all the world;
R. For
only in you can we live in safety.
V. Lord,
keep this nation under your care;
R. And
guide us in the way of justice and truth.
V. Let
your way be known upon earth;
R. Your
saving health among all nations.
V. Let
not the needy, O Lord, be forgotten;
R. Nor
the hope of the poor be taken away.
V. Create
in us clean hearts, O God;
R. And
sustain us with your Holy Spirit.
O God, by the leading of a star you manifested your only Son to the Peoples of the earth: Lead us, who know you now by faith, to your presence, where we may see your glory face to face; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Lord Jesus, stay with us, for evening is at hand and the day is past; be our companion in the way, kindle our hearts, and awaken hope, that we may know you as you are revealed in Scripture and the breaking of bread. Grant this for the sake of your love. Amen.
O God and Father of all, whom the whole heavens adore: Let the whole earth also worship you, all nations obey you, all tongues confess and bless you, and men and women everywhere love you and serve you in peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Almighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplication to you; and you have promised through your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in his Name you will be in the midst of them: Fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us; granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come life everlasting. Amen.
Let
us bless the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
