Officiant O
God, make speed to save us.
People O
Lord, make haste to help us.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
Alleluia.
O gracious
light,
pure brightness of the everliving Father in heaven,
O
Jesus Christ, holy and blessed!
Now as we come to the setting
of the sun,
and our eyes behold the vesper light,
we sing your
praises, O God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
You are worthy
at all times to be praised by happy voices,
O Son of God, O Giver
of Life,
and to be glorified through all the worlds.
Hallelujah!
I
will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart, *
in the
assembly of the upright, in the congregation.
Great are the deeds
of the LORD! *
they are studied by all who delight in them.
His work is full of
majesty and splendor, *
and his righteousness endures for ever.
He makes his
marvelous works to be remembered; *
the LORD is gracious and full
of compassion.
He gives food to
those who fear him; *
he is ever mindful of his covenant.
He has shown his
people the power of his works *
in giving them the lands of the
nations.
The works of his
hands are faithfulness and justice; *
all his commandments are
sure.
They stand fast for
ever and ever, *
because they are done in truth and equity.
He sent redemption
to his people;
he commanded his covenant for ever; *
holy and
awesome is his Name.
The fear of the LORD
is the beginning of wisdom; *
those who act accordingly have a
good understanding;
his praise endures for ever.
Hallelujah!
Happy
are they who fear the Lord *
and have great delight in his
commandments!
Their descendants
will be mighty in the land; *
the generation of the upright will
be blessed.
Wealth and riches
will be in their house, *
and their righteousness will last for
ever.
Light shines in the
darkness for the upright; *
the righteous are merciful and full of
compassion.
It is good for them
to be generous in lending *
and to manage their affairs with
justice.
For they will never
be shaken; *
the righteous will be kept in everlasting
remembrance.
They will not be
afraid of any evil rumors; *
their heart is right;
they put
their trust in the Lord.
Their heart is
established and will not shrink, *
until they see their desire
upon their enemies.
They have given
freely to the poor, *
and their righteousness stands fast for
ever;
they will hold up their head with honor.
The wicked will see
it and be angry;
they will gnash their teeth and pine away; *
the
desires of the wicked will perish.
Hallelujah!
Give
praise, you servants of the LORD; *
praise the Name of the LORD.
Let the Name of the
LORD be blessed, *
from this time forth for evermore.
From the rising of
the sun to its going down *
let the Name of the LORD be praised.
The LORD is high
above all nations, *
and his glory above the heavens.
Who is like the LORD
our God, who sits enthroned on high, *
but stoops to behold the
heavens and the earth?
He takes up the weak
out of the dust *
and lifts up the poor from the ashes.
He sets them with
the princes, *
with the princes of his people.
He makes the woman
of a childless house *
to be a joyful mother of children.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
A Reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah.
Comfort, O comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that she has served her term, that her penalty is paid, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.
A voice cries out: “In the wilderness prepare the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. Then the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all people shall see it together, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.” A voice says, “Cry out!” And I said, “What shall I cry?” All people are grass, their constancy is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, when the breath of the LORD blows upon it; surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand forever.
Get you up to a high mountain, O Zion, herald of good tidings; lift up your voice with strength, O Jerusalem, herald of good tidings, lift it up, do not fear; say to the cities of Judah, “Here is your God!” See, the Lord GOD comes with might, and his arm rules for him; his reward is with him, and his recompense before him. He will feed his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms, and carry them in his bosom, and gently lead the mother sheep.
The
Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
My soul proclaims
the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior;
*
for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all
generations will call me blessed: *
the Almighty has done great
things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on
those who fear him *
in every generation.
He has shown the
strength of his arm, *
he has scattered the proud in their
conceit.
He has cast down the
mighty from their thrones, *
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the
hungry with good things, *
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the
help of his servant Israel, *
for he has remembered his promise of
mercy,
The promise he made
to our fathers, *
to Abraham and his children for ever.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
A Reading from the Letter to the Ephesians.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, just as he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love. He destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace that he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and insight he has made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set forth in Christ, as a plan for the fullness of time, to gather up all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. In Christ we have also obtained an inheritance, having been destined according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to his counsel and will, so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, might live for the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and had believed in him, were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit; this is the pledge of our inheritance toward redemption as God’s own people, to the praise of his glory.
The
Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Lord, you now have
set your servant free *
to go in peace as you have promised;
For these eyes of
mine have seen the Savior, *
whom you have prepared for all the
world to see:
A Light to enlighten
the nations, *
and the glory of your people Israel.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
I
believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and
earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He
was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the
Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified,
died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third
day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at
the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the
living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy
catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of
sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
Officiant The
Lord be with you.
People And

Officiant Let
us pray.
Our

hallowed be your Name,
your kingdom
come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us
today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive
those
who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial,
and
deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the
glory are yours,
now and for ever. Amen.
V. Show
us your mercy, O Lord;
R. And
grant us your salvation.

your ministers with righteousness;
R. Let
your people sing with joy.
V. Give
peace, O Lord, in all the world;
R. For
only in you can we live in safety.
V. Lord,
keep this nation under your care;
R. And

your way be known upon earth;
R. Your

V. Let
not the needy, O Lord, be forgotten;
R. Nor
the hope of the poor be taken away.
V. Create
in us clean hearts, O God;
R. And
sustain us with your Holy Spirit.
Father in heaven, who at the baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan proclaimed him your beloved Son and anointed him with the Holy Spirit: Grant that all who are baptized into his Name may keep the covenant they have made, and boldly confess him as Lord and Savior; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
Lord God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ triumphed over the powers of death and prepared for us our place in the new Jerusalem: Grant that we, who have this day given thanks for his resurrection, may praise you in that City of which he is the light, and where he lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.
O God and Father of all, whom the whole heavens adore: Let the whole earth also worship you, all nations obey you, all tongues confess and bless you, and men and women everywhere love you and serve you in peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Almighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplication to you; and you have promised through your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in his Name you will be in the midst of them: Fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us; granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come life everlasting. Amen.
Let
us bless the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all evermore. Amen.
