and come before his presence with a song.
Know this: The Lord himself is God; *

made us, and we are his;

Enter his gates with thanksgiving;
go into his courts
with praise; *
give thanks to him and call upon his Name.
For the Lord is good;
his mercy is everlasting; *
and
his faithfulness endures from age to age.
I love you, O LORD my strength, *
O LORD my
stronghold, my crag, and my haven.
My God, my rock in whom I put my trust, *
my shield,
the horn of my salvation, and my refuge;

I will call upon the LORD, *
and so shall I be saved
from my enemies.
The breakers of death rolled over me, *
and the
torrents of oblivion made me afraid.
The cords of hell entangled me, *
and the snares of
death were set for me.
I called upon the LORD in my distress *
and cried out
to my God for help.
He heard my voice from his heavenly dwelling; *
my
cry of anguish came to his ears.
The earth reeled and rocked; *
the roots of the
mountains shook;
they reeled because of his anger.
Smoke rose from his nostrils
and a consuming fire out
of his mouth; *
hot burning coals blazed forth from him.
He parted the heavens and came down *
with a storm
cloud under his feet.
He mounted on cherubim and flew; *
he swooped on the
wings of the wind.
He wrapped darkness about him; *
he made dark waters
and thick clouds his pavilion.
From the brightness of his presence, through the clouds,
*
burst hailstones and coals of fire.
The LORD thundered out of heaven; *
the Most High
uttered his voice.
He loosed his arrows and scattered them; *
he hurled
thunderbolts and routed them.
The beds of the seas were uncovered,
and the
foundations of the world laid bare, *
at your battle cry, O LORD,
at the blast of the breath of your nostrils.
He reached down from on high and grasped me; *
he
drew me out of great waters.
He delivered me from my strong enemies
and from those
who hated me; *
for they were too mighty for me.
They confronted me in the day of my disaster; *
but
the LORD was my support.
He brought me out into an open place; *
he rescued me
because he delighted in me.

A Reading from the Book of Deuteronomy.
At that time, I charged you as follows: “Although the LORD your God has given you this land to occupy, all your troops shall cross over armed as the vanguard of your Israelite kin. Only your wives, your children, and your livestock—I know that you have much livestock—shall stay behind in the towns that I have given to you. When the LORD gives rest to your kindred, as to you, and they too have occupied the land that the LORD your God is giving them beyond the Jordan, then each of you may return to the property that I have given to you.”
And I charged Joshua as well at that time, saying: “Your own eyes have seen everything that the LORD your God has done to these two kings; so the LORD will do to all the kingdoms into which you are about to cross. Do not fear them, for it is the LORD your God who fights for you.” At that time, too, I entreated the LORD, saying: “O Lord GOD, you have only begun to show your servant your greatness and your might; what god in heaven or on earth can perform deeds and mighty acts like yours! Let me cross over to see the good land beyond the Jordan, that good hill country and the Lebanon.” But the LORD was angry with me on your account and would not heed me. The LORD said to me, “Enough from you! Never speak to me of this matter again! Go up to the top of Pisgah and look around you to the west, to the north, to the south, and to the east. Look well, for you shall not cross over this Jordan. But charge Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, because it is he who shall cross over at the head of this people and who shall secure their possession of the land that you will see.”

I will sing to the Lord, for he is lofty and uplifted;

the horse and its rider has he hurled into the sea.
The Lord is my strength and my refuge; *
the Lord has
become my Savior.
This is my God and I will praise him, *

people and I will exalt him.
The Lord is a mighty warrior; *
Yahweh is his Name.
The chariots of Pharaoh and his army has he hurled into
the sea; *
the finest of those who bear armor have been drowned in
the Red Sea.
The fathomless deep has overwhelmed them; *
they sank
into the depths like a stone.
Your right hand, O Lord, is glorious in might; *
your
right hand, O Lord, has overthrown the enemy.
Who can be compared with you, O Lord, among the gods?

who is like you, glorious in holiness,
awesome in renown, and
worker of wonders?
You stretched forth your right hand; *
the earth
swallowed them up.
With your constant love you led the people you redeemed;

with your might you brought them in safety to your holy
dwelling.
You will bring them in and plant them *
on the mount
of your possession,
The resting-place you have made for yourself, O Lord,

the sanctuary, O Lord, that your hand has established.

A Reading from the Gospel According to Matthew.
As Jesus came out of the temple and was going away, his disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the temple. Then he asked them, “You see all these, do you not? Truly I tell you, not one stone will be left here upon another; all will be thrown down.” When he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will this be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
Jesus answered them, “Beware that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah!’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not alarmed; for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places: all this is but the beginning of the birthpangs. “Then they will hand you over to be tortured and will put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of my name. Then many will fall away, and they will betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because of the increase of lawlessness, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the world, as a testimony to all the nations; and then the end will come.

worship you, we give you thanks,
we praise you for your glory.

receive
our prayer.
For you alone are the Holy One,
you alone are the
Lord,

I believe in God, the Father
almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

He was conceived by the power of

was crucified, died, and was buried.

descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those who are far off and to those who are near: Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you; bring the nations into your fold; pour out your Spirit upon all flesh; and hasten the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Let us pray now for our own needs and those of others.
Almighty God, Father of
all mercies,
we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks
for
all your goodness and loving-kindness
to us and to all whom you
have made.
We bless you for our creation, preservation,
and all
the blessings of this life;
but above all for your immeasurable
love
in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ;
for
the means of grace, and for the hope of glory.
And, we pray, give us such
an awareness of your mercies,
that with truly thankful hearts we
may show forth your praise,
not only with our lips, but in our
lives,
by giving up our selves to your service,
and by walking
before you
in holiness and righteousness all our days;
through
Jesus Christ our Lord,
to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit,
be
honor and glory throughout all ages. Amen.
